Gregory Wendell Dennis is a District of Columbia and Maryland business immigration attorney, focusing his practice primarily on immigration visas, nonimmigration visas, international trademark law, international commercial business transactions and China law. Mr. Dennis has practiced law since 2010, with most of his practice occurring in mainland China from 2012-2021. Mr. Dennis has lived in China for a collective of 12 years, as a traveler, student, teacher, attorney, and business consultant. From the pristine beaches of Hainan to the rugged mountainous terrain of Yunnan, or the bustling metropolis of Beijing, Mr. Dennis has lived in three major zones of mainland China and understands the complexities of rural and urban life.
Mr. Dennis has a deep understanding of mainland Chinese business practices and bilateral trade in the form of cross border transactions, consumption abroad, FDI and international professional employment. He is a fluent speaker, listener, and reader of Mandarin Chinese, who obtained a level 5 on the new HSK, the Chinese government based Chinese language proficiency test for nonnative Chinese learners. Mr. Dennis owns 4 Chinese trademarks, and offers insights as not just an attorney, but as an owner of a Wholly Owned Foreign Entity registered in mainland China with registered intellectual property that engages in international medical tourism.
Mr. Dennis offers a unique perspective for international mediation and arbitration, as a member of the Thailand Arbitration Center’s Panel of Mediators. Mr. Dennis represents his clients’ business interests in the same way he represents his own. Especially when dealing with the Chinese market, he has in depth knowledge of the innerworkings and the pitfalls that many foreign businesses encounter and has developed novel ways to counteract IP theft, counterfeiting, trademark squatting, breach of contract for nonconforming goods and facilitate contractual negotiations to preempt transnational litigation.
Mr. Dennis is a DC native he attended St. John’s College high school, graduated from Emory University with a BA in philosophy and minor in Chinese, and he graduated from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law with a JD. He is currently in his final year of a Master in Public Health at the University of Edinburgh. Mr. Dennis is admitted to practice in Maryland state and federal courts, DC local court and the United States Court of International Trade. In his free time, he enjoys watching the NBA, and going on urban and wilderness hikes with his three dogs.
